Three Reasons Why You Should Stop Caring What Other People Think Of You

Three reasons why you should stop caring what other people think of you:

1. They’re not actually thinking about you. Everyone’s really only concerned with themselves. They’re thinking about how they feel, what they want, and how, maybe, you could play a role in that.⠀⠀
⠀⠀
Don Miguel Ruiz explains it best in “The Four Agreements”: We all live our lives as if it was a movie, and we’re the director and the main protagonist. Everyone else is just a supporting character.⠀⠀
⠀⠀
It’s not a bad thing. It’s just true. And, realizing it, can help free you from being overly preoccupied with what other people think of you.⠀⠀
⠀⠀
2. If they are thinking about you...⠀⠀
⠀⠀
A) It’s only for a short amount of time. (Again, they’ll go back to thinking about themselves soon.)⠀⠀
⠀⠀
B) It’s only a reflection of their own limiting beliefs and insecurities. They’re putting their own doubts and worries on you—which means that most of what they say about you, has more to do with them, and how they feel about their own lives, than it does with you.⠀⠀
⠀⠀
3. You’re never going to please everyone or make everyone like you. You just aren’t. It’s the natural way of things. There will always be variation and differentiation. There will always be differing opinions, differing beliefs, and differing priorities. It’s inevitable. And, it’s okay.⠀⠀
⠀⠀
So stay true to who are. And, as long as you’re not harming anyone else, do what moves you. Do what feels good to you. Do what feels right to YOU. ⠀⠀
⠀⠀
And let everything else go.⠀⠀
